On 2 July 2019 the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland has granted a patent No. P.417132 for the invention of “Low temperature head for stabilization of temperatures below 4.2K in liquid helium systems” to the Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Wroclaw University of Technology and Polish Mining and Gas Extraction Company PGNiG. The use of a capillary head with increased flow resistance allows for cooling and stabilization of a large volume of liquid helium with optimal, low consumption of this liquid, and preservation or increase of the helium He3 isotope concentration in He4 helium to the lowest temperatures.

Between 26^th June and 6^th July 2019 the 35^th Scientific Workshops “Summer with Helium” were held at the Department of Low Temperature Physics IMP PAS in Odolanów. The main theme of this year's Workshops was "Low temperature physics".

Science Workshops "Summer with Helium" are a unique meeting between young people, pupils and students, and the most outstanding physicists from all over Poland.

As part of the 35^th Workshops, on July 5, a special jubilee session “Helium in Odolanów – science, industry, education” took place in memory of Professor Jan Stankowski – the creator and longtime scientific director of "Summer with Helium".

W niedzielę 9 czerwca br. na terenach toru regatowego Malta w Poznaniu nasza drużyna po raz kolejny wzięła udział w biegu sztafetowym Ekiden PragmatIQ na dystansie maratońskim.

W tym roku IFM PAN reprezentowali:

• Iwona Płowaś-Korus (5400 m)
• Iwona Olejniczak (5400 m)
• Grzegorz Michałek (5400 m)
• Tetiana Yevchenko (5400 m)

W pięknej słonecznej pogodzie przebiegliśmy dystans 42195 m w czasie 3:40:34.

W klasyfikacji drużyn mieszanych zajęliśmy 25 miejsce na 82 drużyny, w klasyfikacji drużyn firmowych 79 miejsce na 184 drużyn, a w klasyfikacji ogólnej 125 miejsce na 266 drużyn.

Naszym kibicom bardzo dziękujemy za wsparcie w czasie biegu i miłe towarzystwo.

IMP PAS, as the fourth institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, joined the Polish Association of Centers for Technology Transfer (PACTT.pl).

PACTT.pl is a nationwide, voluntary association of university and institute units dealing with the management and commercialization of intellectual property. Universities and research institutes represented in PACTT employ over 65,000 scientists and offer access to over 14,000 patents and patent pendings.

The goal of PACTT is to integrate the units responsible for transfer of knowledge and technology, and cooperation aimed at the commercialization of research results.

Professor Dariusz Kaczorowski - an employee of the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research and IMP PAS was elected to the Council of Scientific Excellence (RDN). The RDN is a new body established by the "Constitution for Science" for the development of scientific faculty, to replace the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles in the supervision of individual promotion procedures. The first term of the Council will begin on June 1, 2019.
We would like to congratulate Professor Dariusz Kaczorowski for this election and wish him successful work in the RDN.

Instytut Fizyki Molekularnej wspólnie z Instytutem Chemii Bioorganicznej PAN, Instytutem Dendrologii PAN, Instytutem Genetyki Człowieka PAN oraz z Instytutem Genetyki Roślin PAN będzie prowadził Poznańską Szkołę Doktorską Instytutów Polskiej Akademii Nauk (PSD IPAN). Nowa szkoła doktorska kształcić będzie kandydatów do stopnia doktora w następujących dyscyplinach: nauki biologiczne, nauki chemiczne, nauki fizyczne, nauki medyczne oraz rolnictwo i ogrodnictwo.

Pierwsze zajęcia w szkole rozpoczną się 1 października 2019 r.

On Tuesday 9^th April, 2019, we took part in XXII Poznań Science and Art Festival, which is an important event promoting science and art. Our interactive stand “Ice Age in Liquid” has been presented at Ośrodek Nauki PAN, Wieniawskiego in Poznań, in the frame of Secrets of Physics. For a couple of hours students of the Poznań area schools were taking part in fascinating experiments with the use of the liquefied air components, nitrogen and oxygen.
